What are Floor & Roof Cassettes?
Floor & Roof Cassettes are prefabricated timber engineered panels, designed and manufactured from high-performance I-Joists or Posi-Joist metal web joists that are assembled in our controlled manufacturing environment. Delivered as large-format sections, they are supplied with built in lifting straps to be craned into position on-site, reducing build times, site waste, and labour requirements.
Why Choose David Smith St Ives for Floor & Roof Cassettes?
- Variety of sheet materials and finishes available including OSB, plywood, and moisture-resistant boards, ideal for both internal floor systems and external roof decking. We also offer finishes that enhance durability, acoustic performance, or provide a smooth, ready-to-finish surface for further construction layers.
- To ensure structural integrity and ease of installation, all Floor & Roof Cassettes can be supplied with factory-fitted rim beams and integrated metalwork. These components are pre-installed to the exact specifications of your design, eliminating the need for additional site work and ensuring a seamless fit with supporting structural systems.
- Factory insulated options available. Our cassettes can be supplied with high-performance insulation pre-installed in our factory. This ensures consistent insulation coverage, reduces thermal bridging, and saves valuable on-site labour. Options include PIR boards, mineral wool, or natural insulation materials, customised to meet your project’s U-value targets and regulatory requirements. By integrating insulation at the manufacturing stage, we deliver a cleaner, more efficient construction method with improved quality control.
- Increased speed of build. Our cassette systems arrive to site pre-assembled, insulated, and ready for installation, greatly reducing build time and helping your project stay on schedule.
- Bespoke Design Service and engineering ‘in house’. Every cassette is made to order by our in-house design team using the latest CAD and MiTek software, ensuring a precise fit to your specific requirements.
- Sustainable & Certified. Manufactured from sustainably sourced timber and certified under FSC® and PEFC Chain of Custody schemes, our Floor & Roof Cassettes support environmentally responsible construction.
- Compatible with Traditional and Modern Methods. Our cassettes integrate seamlessly with both timber frame and masonry construction, and can be tailored to include insulation, vapour barriers, decking and more.
